What to do in Luxembourg?

1. The Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art

Description: If you didn't know yet, Luxembourg has a vast and rich cultural heritage. The Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art (MUDAM) can testify to this. Nicknamed by the city's inhabitants "the den of contemporary art", this place already captivates us with its mysterious aura that hovers above the numerous works of art displayed there, sculptures carved by some of the greatest artists the world has ever known, paintings of inestimable value and 21st-century video art.

Good to know: If you're afraid your children will get bored, know that MUDAM also offers workshops for children called "afterwork" events. To raise everyone's awareness of the beauty of art, to better appreciate the world around us. Open all year from 10am, and closed only on Tuesdays, the museum is located in Dräi Eechelen park. Enjoy your visit!

2. Attend a music concert at the Philharmonie Luxembourg

Description: There's visual art, as mentioned previously, and auditory art which amply deserves its place in this ranking with the Philharmonie. For nearly 20 years, the establishment has welcomed orchestras and famous artists from around the world to share their passion with the public. With a music hall that can accommodate up to 300 people, it sometimes happens that in one evening, nearly forty musicians come to make our senses dance and delight our hearts to the depths of our eardrums. Depending on the programming, you can listen to jazz, chamber music, film music, soul... There's something for everyone.

Good to know: Classified as one of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, and located on Erasme street, the Philharmonie is inside the large "Kirchberg".

3. The medieval Castle of Vianden

Description: It goes without saying that a historical visit is a must. This is a worthy monument of European rank, classified in the top 21 most beautiful castles in the world. Built during the period from the 11th to the 14th century, on the foundations of a Roman castle and a Carolingian refuge according to historians, it was the residence of the Counts of Vianden. Today, it's possible to take a complete tour of this immense place, several centuries old. Rooms to visit as a priority? After some work, while nevertheless preserving the style of the era, it is said that the two seigniorial lodgings as well as the chapel are breathtaking.

Good to know: To our great surprise, it's not mandatory to book for the visit. The castle is open every day from 10am, except January 1st and December 25th.

4. Do an extreme sport

Description: Yes, visiting a country is generally done with your feet firmly on the ground. But, if you want an overall, 360° panoramic view, you also need to know how to fly over it... And that in the literal sense! In the city of Luxembourg, you'll find many clubs ready to give you your first flight: parachuting, paragliding, free fall, and wingsuit (type of jump in the air using a wing-shaped suit). You'll feel like you're flying! It's a perfect activity if you're traveling with friends and looking for thrills, you'll have this feeling of escaping and freeing yourself from your daily worries.

Good to know: For all activities practiced in the air, we recommend turning to the CPL club, the Luxembourg Parachuting Circle, in Wiltz-Noertrange, in the Grand Duchy. A beautiful way to create beautiful memories that will remain forever engraved in your memory!

5. Visit the Wine Region of the Moselle

Description:While bathing in the European spirit, Luxembourg is renowned for its exceptional wines. If you make a quick stop in the Moselle in the east of the country, don't hesitate to discover the rich wine region that populates these lands. In addition to being a true paradise for nature lovers with a magnificent view of the landscape, the place allows for a break from the big city. By car, by bike, or on foot, you'll be happy to get some exercise while discovering the vineyards and cellars. If you're not a big wine fan, know that the Moselle cultivates many fruits, which provide exquisite, organic juices, processed by winemakers.

Good to know: From Schengen to Wasserbillig, the Moselle extends over nearly 42 kilometers. It's a completely pleasant place, where sipping a glass of white wine while contemplating the azure blue sky is worthy of a postcard.

6. Discovering the Echternach Abbey Museum

Description: Are you intrigued by the past, and do you wonder about the ancient civilizations that preceded us? Then, hurry to the Echternach abbey! This site presents numerous archaeological remains, as well as some works from the old scriptorium (which designates the workshop of an abbey where manuscripts and other ancient texts are essentially made). Enter the robust walls of the abbey and you go back several centuries before our civilization. You'll thus know everything there is to know about how the monks used to compose the texts (so precious today) of the era.

Good to know: Located at 11 rue Parvis de la Basilique, opening hours are often subject to change. It is therefore advisable to visit the Echternach abbey website before organizing any visit, but apparently, the establishment seems to have fixed hours on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
