In addition to being THE region with the most starred restaurants in Austria, it is also the one that saw the birth of Mozart and other Austrian personalities who have marked world history forever. For that, nothing better than a little briefing that explains why Salzburg really deserves a look!

What to do in Salzburg?
1. Hohensalzburg Fortress
Category: €€/Cultural
Description: Head to "Mönchsberg 34" street to visit a place designated in every way and with every honor as the largest and best-preserved castle fortress in central Europe. The history of Hohensalzburg fortress captivates visitors who venture there each year. It was built in 1077 under the order of Archbishop Gebhard. Over time, it served as protection against offensive troops. Legend has it that it was never taken by foreign troops. When you enter, you will be able to discover the architecture of this spectacular place: and of course enter its famous museums. Among them, the Fortress Museum offers a splendid exhibition of historical objects that were part of the daily life of the prince-archbishops. Your guide will be pleased to tell you juicy anecdotes about ancient times, to better understand the present. Then, why not take a tour of the Puppet Museum? This is typically the kind of activity that children enjoy. Open every day from 9:30 am to 5 pm, the place also offers a magnificent view of the city.

Description: For all nature lovers and athletes seeking thrills, we have found what you need. After all, vacations are not just about visiting museums and searching for good restaurants: there is also the search for adventure, and the need to explore new territories. And that, in the heart of nature. Here is an excursion that will remain forever engraved in your memory: the one in the Bavarian mountains and in the salt mines. Starting from the city, and for a duration of about 4 hours, let yourself be guided by an experienced guide, who will make you live an extraordinary adventure. In one day, the proposed circuit covers the famous Bavarian mountain, as well as the salt mines of Berchtesgaden. Put on your miner's outfit and plunge into a cruise in the depths of an underground lake. This activity (although a bit intimidating, we grant you), is very popular with families. There is nothing very difficult about it, and the little ones come out with stars in their eyes. As a bonus, the views offered to you are breathtaking!
3. Visit the Old Town

Description: After an activity as exciting as an excursion in the heart of nature, why not opt for something softer, but where you can still learn more about Salzburg? The visit of the old town will lead you to "Getreidegasse", a shopping street and also the street where the prodigious Mozart was born (house number 9!). It's the perfect place to indulge in your little shopping activities, you can find lots of traditional businesses as well as small shops with architectures straight out of a dollhouse. The passages of the pedestrian streets have been embellished with arcades, but also with works of art, which makes it a pleasant place to visit. A true place for strolling, it's time to draw your camera and take beautiful shots there! At the end of the day, sit on a terrace and taste a local sweet specialty that the city has the secret to.
4. Mirabell Palace and its Gardens

Category: Cultural
Description: Yes! Another palace, but not just any one. This one is now designated as the romantic setting par excellence where many weddings take place. Needless to say, it's the kind of place to visit as a priority for couples! Many visitors even say that the palace is also the scene of marriage proposals... It was built a very long time ago, in 1606, under the order of Prince-Archbishop Wolf, for his beloved, who is none other than Salome Alt. Isn't that romantic? The place attracts the eye, just by its exterior architecture, as well as (you would have guessed from the title), its gardens straight out of a fairy tale. The palace being located right in the middle of the city, it is now designated as a real green lung. If there are connoisseurs among our readers, you will recognize the baroque style of the place just by the geometric shape of the gardens: you can find a "Pegasus fountain", with a very beautiful sculpture of horses, as well as a work by Kaspar Gras of Innsbruck; also, the rose garden and its rose beds usually leave visitors speechless. It's amazing what the beauty of nature can reveal... From Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, the palace opens its doors to you for free.
5. Chocolate tasting class

Category: €€/Gastronomic
Description: Did you know? Salzburg is THE Austrian chocolate city par excellence! You can find all kinds of sweets there, but the one that is undoubtedly the most appreciated is the famous "Mozart Ball", made with pistachio and praline almond paste. We love it! This is precisely why we thought you couldn't pass through the city of Salzburg without trying a chocolate tasting workshop. We did our little investigation among the best chocolatiers in the region, and our research led us to "Tasting Atelier", for an exceptional tasting experience. In this workshop, you will mix the traditional side of chocolate making, with the innovative side that can be brought to it. This journey of taste exploration will allow you to learn more about the history of chocolate, particularly in the city of Salzburg, through a playful and somewhat pedagogical approach towards a new culinary horizon, never explored before.
6. Hangar-7

Category: €€/Cultural
Description: Open from 9 am to 10 pm every day and located at Salzburg airport, Hangar-7 is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city to visit. Why? Just by its extraordinary architecture, it arouses the curiosity of travelers! Described as "unique of its kind", it has a vast and beautiful collection of historic aircraft, which aviation enthusiasts must surely know: the Flying Bulls. What is particularly interesting in the layout of Hangar-7, is that the exhibition pieces have been integrated with intelligence and elegance into the entire building: which makes it a "global architectural work of art". Little extra: the light that illuminates the works in question changes according to the position of the sun, oriented towards them. Thus, depending on the time of day you visit Hangar-7, it will never be the same exhibition that you will have the opportunity to admire!
