What to do in Ajaccio?

1. Go to the beach

Description: Yes, we know this sounds a bit cliché. But let's agree, if you decide to go to Corsica during your vacation, one of your first motivations is to go to the beach, right? It's not for nothing that this little gem, surrounded by water, is called "The Island of Beauty". The beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, where the temperature is not too cold. Spending an afternoon in this little corner of paradise would be an excellent way for you to externalize stress and achieve a certain inner peace. Not to mention that children love it! Plus, you can eat in one of the nearby seaside restaurants and taste a local specialty. Or why not bring your picnic? Among the most beautiful beaches, we recommend "Trottel", or "Capo Di Feno" for slightly stronger waves... If you want to try surfing.

2. Tree climbing

Description: Are you feeling adventurous? If you're traveling with family, know that there are no activities as interesting and fun for children as tree climbing, safely of course. In the city of Ajaccio, there's what's called the "Grand Parc Aventure de Corse", which is located about forty minutes from Vero by car. There, believe us, you'll be able to exercise fully and enjoy the landscape from above. In the middle of a majestic forest, there are several courses that you can choose according to the difficulty level. There, test the famous monkey bridge, zip lines, as well as surfing in the treetops! You'll come out with stars in your eyes, that's certain. The Grand Parc Aventure de Corse is open from 10am to 7pm.

3. Visit the Ajaccio hinterland

Description: When you visit Ajaccio, you shouldn't miss going to the Ajaccio hinterland: you'll discover plenty of small stone villages all as cute as each other. Moreover, in addition to discovering more about this "old Corsica", there are activities to do that will delight you further: for example, you'll find all sorts of hiking trails leading to superb places, like waterfalls with turquoise water, where you can sunbathe on a rock. Also, it will be a great opportunity for you to get acquainted with the friendly animals of the "a Cupulatta" animal park, on a large natural site of several hectares. What could be better? Perhaps you'd like to spend some time in the ecomuseum of Bocognano, which authentically traces the journey of the Bocognanais as well as the Gravona throughout history. Beautiful activities in prospect!

4. Visit the Piana Calanques and Scandola from Ajaccio by boat

Description: A boat trip, does that tempt you? There's plenty to see around Ajaccio, particularly the Piana Calanques, one of the most beautiful natural sites in Corsica, and the Scandola nature reserve. Two jewels inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It's certain that you and your little family, or friends, will love exploring these immense cliffs made of pink and red granite, as if they had been painted. This creates a perfect contrast with the turquoise blue of the sea, a photo is a must. This is where you can see how Mother Nature can create beautiful things that rise proudly towards the sky with so much splendor and grace. An absolutely incredible spectacle! If you opt for a mini cruise, you can occasionally set foot on dry land, since the boat will make a quick stop at the village of Girolata for lunch. A picturesque place that you'll certainly appreciate.

Description: Of course, visiting Ajaccio also means visiting the birthplace of the great Napoleon Bonaparte. You'll have the chance to enter what was his childhood home, today transformed into a national museum open to all. Classified as a historical monument, you'll find all the objects, statues, decorations, paintings and other works of art that are likely to retrace the history of this emblematic figure in history who was born in this residence on August 15, 1769. During a guided tour, you'll learn more about Napoleon and come out with numerous pieces of information that you certainly weren't taught during your school years! For history buffs, it's the perfect place! The National Museum of the Bonaparte House is open from 10am to about 5pm, it's located near Saint Charles Street.

Description: Landscapes and natural sites are not the only beautiful things to admire in Ajaccio. There's also the "Fesch Palace", located by the sea, a true fine arts museum. It's a precious heritage, as it houses one of the most important collections of Italian painting in French museums. A real gem! Among all the works of art to admire, we strongly advise you to take time to visit "the graphic arts and photography cabinet", but also "the Napoleonic collection" which represents the Bonaparte family, with engravings, paintings and sculptures. It's a place with various works of art that asks nothing more than to be explored, in order to better understand the past. The Fesch Palace is open every day from 9:15am to 6pm, and is located near "Cardinal Fesch Street".
