The city of Bonifacio

The Sanguinaires Islands
This is an archipelago composed of 4 islets. Their name has nothing to do with any battle, but with the red reflection on the rocks as the sun sets. A spectacle not to be missed! Cruises are organized to the main island, Mezzu Mare. The view over the gulf is magnificent and you may have the opportunity to see the protected animal and plant species on the island. Diving baptisms are also organized around the Sanguinaires islands. The road that leads to the Parata point is worth the detour just before embarking for the Sanguinaires islands.
The beaches around Ajaccio
Sun, warm sand, crystal-clear and calm waters, that's what awaits you if you go to the beaches around Ajaccio, the dolce vita. Here are some top addresses that shouldn't disappoint you:
- Zonza, Pinarello beach: non-smoking zone, water activities, surf spot, mattress rental, catering.
- Porto-Vecchio, Santa Giulia beach. The bay of Santa Giulia is a little paradise on earth, a lagoon with turquoise and perfectly clear waters on white sand. The rocks bring a wild side to this beach, an unmissable place but very popular!
- Belvédère-Campomoro, Cala d'Agulia beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, this protected cove gives you the feeling of being alone in the world, which attracts naturists in addition to hikers and cruise passengers. It is accessible by boat or on foot, it takes 3 hours of walking.
- Pietrosella, Mare E Sole beach (or Silver beach) because of its sand, superb view of Ajaccio and the mountains, sheltered from the wind, it has the particularity of sometimes hosting cows. Although this is very picturesque, avoid approaching them, they might charge you!
- Alata, Lava beach, this wild beach is very lively, multiple water activities are available: diving, flyboard, jet ski... In addition, it is close to protected natural sites: the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Calanques de Piana...
- Cargèse, Peru beach. Located between 2 Genoese towers, in a gulf between the Cargèse point and the Omigna point, this sandy beach measures nearly 1 km. Beach huts, kayak rental... The view is, here too, magnificent.

The Calanques de Piana
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, they are immediately recognizable by their red color of the rocks, this is due to their volcanic past. This color stands out even more when the sun sets. Boat excursions are organized in the calanques, it is also possible to discover them through hiking trails on foot or by mountain bike. The village of Piana is classified among the most beautiful villages in France.
Scuba diving around Ajaccio
Visiting Ajaccio is a must, you can then go exploring the Corsican underwater fauna and flora, a wonderfully colorful world in crystal-clear waters. Among the most beautiful diving sites, you can try:

Porto-Vecchio
Set out to conquer the 16th-century citadel, its historic center, the Place de la République next to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church is a place where the atmosphere is thrilling with its bars and ice cream shops. Many shops are open until midnight, Porto-Vecchio is, indeed, very lively in the evening between trendy wine bars, nightclubs, and polyphonies for those looking for more local entertainment. The same goes for the marina, which is also a pleasant place for a stroll. The beaches of Palombaggia and Santa Giulia are very touristy.
- Porto-Vecchio also has archaeological sites with fortified habitats dating from the Bronze Age, prehistoric fortresses... The Alta Rocca departmental museum traces 11,000 years of history.
- The 16th-century Genoese towers: Fautéa, Pinarellu, Rondinara, Caldarellu and d'Omettu.
- The Ospédale lake and the Ospédale forest, a magnificent lake bordered by a particularly dense forest to discover through hikes.
Zonza
This 17th-century village is one of the most beautiful on the island, it extends between the mountain (Bavella Needles) to the Gulf of Pinarello bordered by beaches. In the village, you will see houses built in local stone, typical small squares, the 19th-century Santa Maria Assunta church with its carved door and its High Bell Tower, a historical monument not to be missed, also to see: the Alta Rocca resistance museum.
The Polischellu waterfalls
These pools of fresh and crystalline water are a delight for the eyes and ears, a true little paradise where it is possible to swim and practice canyoning.
A Capulatta Park
This park is dedicated to the protection of land turtles and aquatic turtles, there are more than 170 different species represented in this park. The park has many births each year, you can discover the Galápagos turtle, or the red-headed turtle from South America.
The Prunelli valley
A true haven of peace that is full of natural riches between coastal landscapes and mountainous regions, shaded paths, Tolla lake and its nautical base, or the via ferrata will delight all budding adventurers.
Outside the city center, the famous Place De Gaulle, Place Foch, the foreigners' quarter with its magnificent buildings, the fishing port, visits and walks are not lacking in Ajaccio and its surroundings by the sea or inland. Ajaccio is also the Napoleonic Days created in tribute to the most famous Ajaccio family through conferences, reconstructions, parades, dance, games and music in August.
