If Albi were a coastal city, it would surely attract many more visitors. Albi is renowned for its impressive cathedral and episcopal complex that leave no one indifferent. I forbid you to leave Albi without contemplating the impressive cathedral that overlooks the city. You can't miss it as it's so imposing. It took two centuries to build. Construction began in 1282 and was completed in 1480. Like the region, the cathedral has a typical Southern Gothic style. This particular style is characterized by the use of buttresses instead of flying buttresses. A large part of the religious buildings in Languedoc-Roussillon is ochre colored. Since 2010, the Sainte-Cécile Cathedral of Albi has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of the most visited cathedrals in the country.
