The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMAC) of Nice

This museum houses no less than 1,300 works of pop art, new realism, conceptual art and artists from Group 70 and Fluxus. A collection that takes you on a journey from the 1950s to today. You can notably discover the works of Yves Klein and Niki de Saint Phalle.

Children

Wednesday is the day dedicated to activities for children: a 1-hour workshop with a provided educational kit, created by artist Eve Pietruschi, will allow them to learn the different creative techniques used by artists (5/11 years). Another one offers them to create their own works inspired by the museum's artists through the discovery of visual arts (6/12 years). During school holidays, many activities are offered always with a fun approach: guided tours, storytelling sessions, meetings with artists, workshops...

The National Museum of Sport in Nice

Free for under 18s, this museum brings together nearly 43,000 works of all kinds: historical posters, sports outfits and equipment, trophies, medals, as well as everyday objects that testify to the importance of sport in our society. You can access guided tours as well as temporary exhibitions on the Olympic Games, art and sport, sport and digital technology, motorsports... They vary from year to year.

Children

For children from 6 to 12 years old, cultural mini-workshops are offered, as well as games and sports courses. Enough to challenge them and keep them busy for a while!

The Matisse Museum of Nice

Free for under 18s, this museum displays many works by the artist: paintings, drawings, engravings, photographs, you will also find personal objects.

Permanent and temporary exhibitions will delight the eyes of young and old with either guided tours that are more specifically aimed at adults, or interactive tours that are mainly aimed at families with children aged 7 and over.

Children

In addition to the interactive tour for children aged 7 and over, there are also family discovery workshops for children from 4 years old.

The archaeological museum of Nice and the Terra Amata site

This space is located on 2 sites: Cimiez and Terra Amata. This place is ideal for discovering Nice during prehistoric times, it is located in the villa des Arènes where the Matisse museum is also located, which can allow you to kill three birds with one stone and keep you busy for a good part of the day!

The Cimiez museum

This museum presents a large collection of art and everyday objects, documents, coins, jewelry... From the metal age, through antiquity to the Middle Ages. A rich and varied collection from excavations carried out on the site and from private collections. Models give an idea of what the site might have looked like at the time. Outside, the ruins of the ancient city present many points of interest: thermal complexes, 1st century wall, basin, sports ground, swimming pool, heating system...

Children

The tactile space is organized around the 5 senses, children set off to discover archaeology in a fun way.

The Terra Amata site

This site is where the oldest hearths in the History of Humanity were discovered: they date back 400,000 years. Go and meet the very first inhabitants of Nice, their way of life, the climate, their tools and discover the footprint of a Homo erectus from Terra Amata.

The Marc Chagall national museum

Particularly popular, this national museum was created (and this is rare enough to mention) during the artist's lifetime, it presents exceptional collections including the Biblical Message cycle which demonstrates the complexity and variety of the different artistic practices used by Marc Chagall.

Free for under 26s, many exhibitions are offered throughout the year, an important collection of gouaches, engravings, lithographs, sculptures... More than 250 works created during different periods that you can discover at your own pace at the Marc Chagall national museum.

The Massena Museum

On the Promenade des Anglais, discover this museum located in a charming 19th century villa in Belle Époque style. Composed of 23 rooms on 3 levels, some 15,000 pieces of furniture, paintings, sculptures and art objects testify to the influence of Nice from the First Empire until 1939.

The Fine Arts Museum of Nice

In a 19th century Italian Renaissance style palace built by a Russian prince, this museum has housed since 1925 a collection of regional primitives, sculptures and paintings by artists such as: Claude Monet, Marie Laurencin, Edouard Vuillard...

The Lascaris Palace

In old Nice, this 17th century residence offers an exceptional collection of ancient musical instruments, art objects, prints, paintings, and tapestries from the 17th and 18th centuries. The baroque style rooms and staircase impose with their stature and beauty, also to see, the painted ceilings, the richly decorated salons...

The International Museum of Naïve Art Anatole Jakovsky

This museum brings together numerous works of naïve art from the 18th century to the present day. This spontaneous art is an invitation to mental wandering by interpreting in a completely personal way the different paintings, sculptures, drawings and posters that trace the evolution of this art.

The Charles Nègre Photography Museum

It is in the heart of Old Nice that you can discover temporary exhibitions by great names in photography or exhibitions focused on a very specific theme. 1700 images and 220 objects.
