Are you staying in Toulon? Why not combine this cultural visit and relaxation with a nature escape just steps from the city? Overlooking the sea and Toulon, Mont Faron is an ideal space for hiking among the Aleppo pines. As a bonus, a superb view of the sea and one of the most beautiful harbors in Europe! So, ready to climb Mont Faron?

What is Mont Faron?

Faron is the mountain that overlooks the city of Toulon, in the Var. Rising to 584 meters altitude and composed of limestone, it is one of the most famous reliefs in the region and for good reason, it offers beautiful walks accessible to all just steps from Toulon. It was once used to defend the maritime and terrestrial access to the city's military port: we still discover today a whole network of fortifications and notably 9 forts that are still there. Its name comes from the Provençal Faro, which designates a watchtower from which one could monitor the coast.

Mont Faron is a classified site and is part of a natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest.

It is installed in the Beaumont tower, built in 1845 to defend the harbor.
