Alicante is a municipality located in the Valencian Community in southeastern Spain. It's a destination that's becoming increasingly popular. This coastal city is a victim of its own success. In 2023, the city saw the number of tourists explode to an increase of 58.7% additional visitors compared to 2022. And these figures are likely to increase even more in the following years. More and more young people come to Alicante to enjoy the sun, the Mediterranean Sea but also to party. However, very few know that Alicante is also a historic city in Spain. It was the scene of tragic events such as the establishment of the Los Almendros concentration camp created by the nationalists in the late 1930s under Franco's direction.
