Mallorca island has become a prime destination in recent years, especially for young people who want to enjoy the sun, the Mediterranean Sea and the numerous bars and nightclubs lining the streets. It's an accessible destination, which is why it's very popular. To give you an idea, nearly 956,000 people live on Mallorca island, and more than 11.6 million tourists spend time on Mallorca island, specifically in Palma de Mallorca, the island's capital. If you want to discover new horizons and a new culture, you might find Palma de Mallorca a bit tiresome given the number of tourists present. However, it's still possible to visit some very beautiful places, and I'll mention a few of them right now.

1- Discover the impressive Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca

Category: € / Cultural

Description: When you arrive in Palma de Mallorca, you'll be intrigued by a building with breathtaking architecture. This is the Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca. And it's not just any cathedral! It's the second largest in Spain after the one in Seville. Its construction began in 1229 and was completed a century later, in 1346. At the beginning of the 20th century, Antoni Gaudi, the famous Catalan architect who created the Sagrada Familia, was hired to reconfigure the choir. But that's not all! Miquel Barcelo, a highly renowned painter, draftsman, engraver, sculptor and ceramist, native of Palma de Mallorca, was commissioned from 2001 to 2006 to create the interior decorations and stained glass windows of the Sant Pere chapel. As you can see, it's an impressive monument that must be visited when you go to the island.

2- Attend a Flamenco show

There's nothing more Spanish than a flamenco show in a tablao, the traditional venue where these shows take place. A unique chance to see this art form inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010. In addition to watching a show, you'll have the opportunity to refresh yourself with a drink and even eat traditional tapas if you wish (optional). Iberian ham, cheese and Cantabrian anchovies are on the menu.
