You’re now standing in front of the Toptani Shopping Center, a place that reflects the modern, dynamic face of Tirana. Just a few steps from Skanderbeg Square, this contemporary complex opened in 2017 and quickly became a popular meeting point for both locals and visitors. Its bold architecture, originally designed by the Dutch firm MVRDV, intentionally contrasts with the surrounding historic monuments and highlights the rapid transformation of the Albanian capital. Inside, several levels are filled with fashion stores, international brands, cafés and restaurants, making it a convenient stop for a break after exploring the city center. As you look up, you’ll notice the open spaces and the way natural light moves through the building. Toptani isn’t just about shopping either: on the ground floor, Gallery 70 regularly hosts contemporary art exhibitions, while the top level features a large play area for children. Whether you’re here to wander, grab a coffee, see an exhibition or simply pass through as a shortcut across the city, Toptani has become a true urban living space, reflecting a young, creative and forward-looking Tirana.
