Harbour Centre Lookout Tower

Allow us a quick word about the building you see a little further down the street, coupled with an observation tower. This is the Harbour Center, a skyscraper built in 1977, which includes an office tower and the Vancouver Lookout. Matching the height of a 40 story building, it was designed by WZMH, also known for the CN Tower in Toronto. They used the Brutalist-Modernist style, which was very popular at the time, to build Vancouver's tallest building. So close to the stars, in fact, that astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, came to inaugurate it. If you can't follow him into space, you can follow him into Vancouver's Lookout for a bird's-eye view of the city. It's a spectacular panorama, for which there is an entrance fee, of course.
