Opened in 2013, the Rod Robbie Bridge is an elegant elevated pedestrian walkway that links Front West Street to the CN Tower and Rogers Centre area. Walking across it, you take an outdoor route that pays tribute to one of Toronto’s most influential architects, Rod Robbie, best known for designing the iconic Rogers Centre and its groundbreaking retractable roof. Take a moment to look back: you’ll spot a series of monumental golden figures. This is “The Audience”, an iconic artwork created in 1989 by Canadian artist Michael Snow. Fifteen expressive silhouettes of supporters — from enthusiastic families to passionate fans — greet pedestrians heading towards the stadium entrances. Standing over six metres high, they dominate the landscape and turn this simple crossing into a truly artistic experience. Snow hoped that, by observing these figures, every visitor would recognise themselves, creating a connection between public art and the shared emotion of major sporting events.
