Another original sculpture, placed along the harbour, here comes "The Drop". You've no doubt heard about the city's unflattering nickname of "Raincouver" for its notorious rainfalls. As a matter of fact, you're in the third rainiest city in Canada, receiving over 162 days of rain a year, behind Abbotsford and Halifax. This fine, elegant drop of water is here to remind us that if Vancouver has such a beautiful, exuberant natural environment, it's thanks to this wet blessing from the sky. This work of art was designed by a collective of German artists called Inges Idee, as part of a public art program commissioned by the City of Vancouver. This is their first Northern American project. A fine tribute to the power of nature! It had to be dismantled in 2010, as its enormous size was in the way of the television cameras during the Olympic Games.
