You’re now in the Sculpture Garden, a modern green space that surrounds the Contemporary Art and Action Center — better known as the LAAC. This striking museum, built in 1982 just two years after the park itself was created, is home to more than 2,000 artworks collected by Gilbert Delaine. Inside, you’ll find paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs from the mid-20th century — roughly from 1945 to the 1980s — all presented in a fun and interactive way that appeals to visitors of all ages. Though, the art doesn’t stop at the museum doors: the garden around you is also dotted with sculptures, some playful, some surprising, blending into a landscape of plants and stone. Take your time, wander around — and keep your eyes open for the unexpected!
