How could you not recognise this place when seeing its red facade and veranda? You’re in front of Les Deux Compères, Gabriel’s restaurant. Many scenes take place in front of and inside this place, such as Emily and Gabriel’s kiss after making a last-minute meal for her two clients to finalise a contract. Should I remind you though that she didn’t know that he had a girlfriend at the time? And that person is none other than Camille, her new friend! She’ll realise right after when leaving the restaurant and crossing paths with her, who’ll tell her that the chef is her boyfriend. Imagine how awkward it must have been for Emily in that moment! Anyway, it’s in this restaurant that we’ll notice Gabriel’s love for cooking, a passionate chef throughout the whole series. On your right, you’ll see the Boulangerie Moderne, another place frequently visited by Emily. In the first episode, Emily enters this bakery to buy her very first pain au chocolat. The baker won’t hesitate to correct her on her grammar about “un” and “une”. It’s at this moment that she realised it was going to be complicated to communicate with locals as she struggled with understanding French. However, this event didn’t stop her from coming back. Despite the language barrier, she still managed to get along with the baker. For example, in the second episode, they took a selfie together to post on her Instagram page. Emily already had 5600 followers at the time, so that was a great shoutout for the baker! If you want to follow Emily’s steps, go inside and try out one of its pastries! On a side note, this bakery is not a big name in the pastry world, and these are not luxury products, but rather a very good neighbourhood bakery that gained a reputation thanks to the TV show.
