Jardin Pams

You’re now entering the Jardin Pams, a peaceful green oasis tucked into the hillside just behind the Museum of Modern Art. This Mediterranean garden once formed part of the Villa Pams estate, later transformed into the museum in the 1980s. In 1947, Senator Gaston Pams acquired the property, reshaped the terraced vineyards, and created this sun-drenched garden filled with native plants, shaded paths, and a graceful little bell tower. As you wander through, you’ll pass pine trees, olive trees, laurels, and wild shrubs, with benches and tables inviting you to pause and take in the stunning view over the bay. From time to time, artists still come here to paint, inspired by the same light that once gave birth to Fauvism in Collioure. Lower in the garden, you’ll notice several Gothic arches—remnants of the old Dominican cloister, restored and placed here in the 1990s. The Jardin Pams is a place where nature, art, and history come together—a cool, tranquil haven suspended between the hills and the sea.
