Introducing the Palais des Arts, the work of architect Henri Esperandieu, who also designed the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde Basilica. The building now hosts concerts and exhibitions, having long housed the municipal library and the School of Fine Arts. Its white stone façade is a fascinating timeline of art history. You see 10 busts of monarchs, each representing the artistic style of their time; Charlemagne for Romanesque Art, Francis I for the Renaissance, Napoleon I for Modern Art, and the list goes on. It’s a beautiful tribute to the power of art throughout the centuries.
