Tour Vieille
You’re now standing before the Tour Vieille, built at the end of the 15th century. Back then, everything here was about vigilance. The people of Saint-Tropez lived at a time when the Mediterranean was full of dangers : pirates and enemy fleets. From this tower, the horizon was watched day and night, always ready to sound the alarm. Picture the lookouts stationed behind these arrow slits, scanning every sail in the distance. It was a vital watch post, and still today it stands as one of the oldest surviving parts of the village’s defensive system.
