Welcome to Aotea Square, a plaza known for fairs, music festivals, concerts, markets, and political rallies. Originally designed in 1979, it was renovated in 2010 and accommodates up to 20,000 people. It is surrounded by the Town Hall, Myers Park, and the Aotea Center — the large building on your left. The Aotea Center is one of Auckland's main cultural hubs, hosting conferences and performances. Completed in 1989, it was designed by the city's architect, Eswen Wainscott, and features artwork by New Zealand artists inside. On the other side of the square stands a large cinema and theater complex. Aotea Square marks the entrance to Auckland’s city center, and is a popular meeting spot.
