Trubarjeva cesta

By now you’ve probably noticed you’re walking along one of the most colorful, energetic streets in Ljubljana. Some even call it “the most diverse street in Slovenia,” thanks to the shops run by communities from all over the world, creating a real mosaic of cuisines and cultures. The street itself is named after Primož Trubar, the father of written Slovene, who published the very first books in the language back in the 16th century. But what really makes Trubarjeva stand out is its atmosphere. The facades are alive with murals, graffiti and collages, while shoes dangling from wires overhead give the street a quirky, unmistakable character. You’ll pass thrift stores, workshops, tiny groceries and independent cafés, all mixed in with restaurants serving food from every corner of the globe. Since 2023 the street has led straight to the Center Rog, a huge creative hub housed in the former Rog bicycle factory, now buzzing with studios, fab labs and exhibitions. If that sounds like your kind of place, make sure you check it out. For now, just enjoy Trubarjeva Street, where Ljubljana shows off its more alternative, multicultural side, less postcard-perfect, but all the more authentic.
