This garden, located just across from Jongmyo Shrine, is Wolnam Park, a small green oasis in the heart of Seoul, perfect for a stroll or a picnic in nature. On your right, you’ll spot a statue of an important figure in Korean history: patriot Wolnam Sang-Jae Lee, an advocate for education and youth during the Japanese occupation who fought tirelessly for national independence. A true hero in the eyes of Koreans, he is honored here with this prominent statue, standing just steps away from one of South Korea’s most symbolic shrines.
