The elegant yellow residence before you is the Casal Solleric, a typical example of the manors that were built in the 18th century for wealthy Majorcans, a true golden age for the island’s bourgeoisie. This one has been standing since 1763, built by Majorcan architect Gaspar Palmer, and destined for an olive oil merchant whose son would later become the Marquis of Solleric, hence the name of the palace. Its patio counts as one of the most elegant in the city—plus, it’s open to the public! Today, the building is home to a cultural center hosting free temporary exhibitions. So don’t hesitate to stop by, if only to admire its beautiful inner courtyard up close and climb its magnificent wrought-iron imperial staircase.
