You’re now in the heart of Gloria Molina Grand Park, a twelve-hectare urban park stretching across the Civic Center, connecting the Music Center to the west with City Hall to the east. For decades, this space was little more than a series of underused concrete terraces from the 60s. Completely redesigned and reopened in 2012, it was envisioned as a “park for everyone”—accessible, free, and open from morning to night. The design is intentionally fluid, with no rigid angles, featuring curving pathways, multicultural gardens, shaded areas, and bright pink furnishings that have become iconic, connoting a playful, welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere. One of its highlights is the Arthur J. Will Fountain, transformed into an interactive splash pad: in summer, its dozens of illuminated jets create a giant playground for children, while also serving as an eye-catching backdrop for films and music videos. Further on, the expansive lawns host concerts, film screenings, and large gatherings, sometimes for thousands of people, while quieter areas invite reading, yoga, or simply a coffee break. The park is also a place of memory, featuring monuments like the Armenian and Ukrainian memorials and tributes to Los Angeles’ founders. Since 2023, the park has borne the name Gloria Molina, honoring the first Latina elected to the California State Assembly and later to the Los Angeles City Council, who played a key role in making this park a reality.
