You’re now in front of the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center, home to Colorado’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. It’s a solemn and impressive building, open to the public. Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, you can stroll through its light-filled glass and granite atrium, and visit the Colorado Judicial Learning Center, an interactive exhibit that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the state’s justice system. If you’re visiting with a group, free guided tours are available by reservation. If your timing’s right, you might even catch a public hearing, a rare and fascinating chance to see justice in motion. Whether or not you head inside, take a moment to approach the small circle of white marble figures nearby. Some are seated, some are standing, all carved in quiet conversation. This sculpture, by artist Madeline Wiener, invites you to join in. It’s more than a work of art, it’s a symbol. A reminder that justice doesn’t start in a courtroom; it begins with dialogue, with listening, with understanding. Located at the heart of power, this silent gathering speaks volumes about the human side of justice.
