After all, it's good to learn about the food before traveling from one end to the other. Prague is known for having rather healthy and balanced food at all meals. 1. The Smažák

Appearing after World War II, this dish made with fried melted cheese is enjoyed hot. Don't they say "everything is good in the pig"? Well, the Koleno, which we call "knuckle" in English, was specially designed to affirm this theory! Pork being one of the bases of Czech cuisine, this dish is the guilty pleasure of all lovers of good food. Thus, on a wooden board you will find a large piece of pork knuckle, roasted, accompanied by a little horseradish, a plant with a high vitamin C content (cuisine in Prague being known to be quite balanced) and fresh mayonnaise. Know that at almost all your meals, you will find meat in your dish, and the Svíčková does not break the rule, that's the least we can say! This dish very much tasted during joyful festive banquets, consists of beef sirloin, to which we have added a fine touch of sauce based on cream and carrots. Eaten with bread slices that we arrange at the edge of the meat on the plate, we usually garnish it with whipped cream, cranberry jam or even lingonberries. Can be prepared in different ways, the most famous in the city of Prague is that of the duck that has been roasted in an assortment of cumin. Served with potato dumplings, these have been covered with fried and crispy onions, as well as cooking juice. With a zest of red cabbage on top, you will be conquered, we guarantee it.

6. The Trdelník

Make some room for the legendary and very artistic pastry straight from Prague! The trdelník is what the croissant is to Paris, that is to say its identity, a piece of its culinary DNA. A very traditional meal, it is perfect in the evening, when you return from a long day spent exploring every corner of the city. It is generally eaten with bread, and is particularly rich in flavors.

These little potato pancakes, even if by name they tell you nothing, are very present in the Czech Republic, whether on restaurant menus, or in the kitchens of residents. Resembling a mini pancake, the bramborák is cooked using flour, eggs, onions, and grated potatoes: you will love to sprinkle this dish with jams or others, to accompany it as if it were a crepe.
