3. Eel Soup

8. Rollmops

This time it's herring that's highlighted again but we must admit it really deserves it. This treasure from the North Sea brings sunshine to your plate and is an excellent source of vitamins. "Rollmops" is actually made of white herring fillets that have been marinated for at least 35 days: in a sauce made from vinegar, sugar, onions, salt, pepper, and mustard. It's then rolled in a large pickle, and you're done! This makes an excellent appetizer accompanied by a glass of white wine.
9. Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte

If we say "Black Forest" does that ring a bell? This cake which is a staple of French pastry is so appreciated worldwide that many countries or regions establish it among the best pastries. This is the case in Hamburg. The "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte" stands out for its refined and enticing character. Very pleasant to look at, Hamburg residents like to add ripe cherries on top. 10. Labskaus

What better way to finish this ranking than to present you with Labskaus. A unique dish, unlike any other, featuring several varied ingredients. What makes it stand out most particularly? It's undoubtedly its corned beef with a runny egg on top. It's a very appreciated and widely consumed dish throughout northern Germany. Locals add potatoes, a few slices of herring (the one and only), onions, beets, and other vegetables such as pickles.
