An avant-garde palace of 1905
Built in 1905, the Evropa Hotel welcomed all the elite of the country and of Europe. Equipped with lifts, hot water and central heating, it was of a very avant-garde comfort for the time. First named the Grand Hotel Šroubek, after its owner, it crossed the century keeping its original Art Nouveau decor, becoming one of the symbols of the golden age of Wenceslas Square.
What there is to see
The façade of the hotel, richly adorned with Art Nouveau motifs, gilded ironwork and sculptures, is a true architectural jewel. It illustrates the refinement and the decorative exuberance of the early twentieth century in Prague. Even without staying there, you willingly stop to admire this witness to the Prague Belle Époque, on the prestigious Wenceslas Square.
