Jerusalem Synagogue

Located outside the Jewish ghetto where all other Jewish structures are concentrated, the Jerusalem Synagogue—or the Jubilee Synagogue—is the only Jewish place of worship still in activity in Prague. Hidden in the middle of a street, it still easily catches your attention. The largest synagogue for Prague’s Jewish community, you will definitely not forget its bold and flamboyant style. Built in 1906, the synagogue’s façade is an excentric mix between Art Nouveau and Neo-Moorish exoticism. Miraculously spared from World War II, the building remained the same firework explosion of shapes and colours. Elegantly displayed around the central arch, anyone passing by is greeted by its wise inscription in Hebrew: "This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it. Do we not all have the same father? Were we not all created by the same God?". Think about this one.
