Naples has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The sea breeze helps cool the air in summer. The hottest months are July and August, with highs around 32°C and lows around 22°C. The wettest months are November and December. The best time to visit Naples is from April to October.
We build our routes as loops so you can easily start the visit at the point closest to you, and the guidance will adapt automatically. If you are nearby, we suggest an ideal starting point: Piazza Municipio / Municipio Metro Station
Parcheggio Castel Nuovo / Via Vittorio Emanuele III If you chose to have or rent a car in Naples to explore the surroundings (a good idea), you will need to find where to park. Even if the chaotic side of Naples is part of its charm, it’s a different story when you’re driving. Parking in the street, whether free or paid, is not really recommended unless you are a zen master, a driving expert, and fully relaxed about your car’s fate. The best option is to use a private covered parking lot and pay. But if you also want to avoid driving in the city center, choose the ANM park-and-ride car parks located outside the central area and connected to public transport.
We visit the Spanish Quarter, which is both a must-see in Naples and a place known for its bad reputation. This is also true for the city in general, which is often seen as dangerous and dirty. Even if it is associated with the Camorra mafia, petty crime is actually lower in Naples than in Rome, Turin, or Milan. And Italy in general has a lower homicide rate than many other European countries. So be careful, as everywhere, but don’t be afraid of stereotypes. We did not indicate public toilets on this route. But sitting on a café terrace is an essential part of the Naples experience, so feel free to use the toilets in bars, restaurants, or museums if you visit them.
