It’s a chance to dive into the story behind this iconic local brew, see how it’s made, and enjoy a tasting! If you’re craving some green space, the city’s parks are a great option. The Parc de la Trinité is the largest public park on the island, with wide open spaces, mountain views, and a peaceful atmosphere. Up in the Montagne neighbourhood, the Parc du Colorado has picnic areas, playgrounds, and several scenic viewpoints. It’s also the starting point for lots of hiking trails. If you’d rather explore something a bit more lush and local, head to the Jardin de la Vallée Heureuse. This privately owned Creole garden is tucked away near the village of Brûlé, in the hills above Saint-Denis. It’s a haven of greenery, filled with flowers, birds, and local history. There’s a small entry fee, but it’s well worth the visit. If you’ve got a car, the Route de la Montagne offers amazing views over Saint-Denis. Keep an eye out for the Chaudron waterfall too, if the road is open. Rockfalls can sometimes make the path inaccessible, but when it’s safe, it’s a stunning spot for a swim in the middle of nature.
