To visit Washington, D.C., the best time is from April to October, when the sun shines and temperatures are pleasant. July and August, however, can see high temperatures, easily exceeding 30°C (86°F). Winter is colder, but still a good time to visit. Be sure to dress warmly, though, as temperatures can drop below freezing and snowstorms are possible. During the holiday season, the city hosts numerous events.
No need to worry about where to begin! Our tours are designed as a loop, so you can jump in wherever you are. The navigation system and audioguide will automatically adjust to your location. However, if you happen to be nearby, we do have a preferred starting point : in front of the Washington Monument.
Parking Washington DC Public Parking : 389 6th St SW Please note that the parking lot we've recommended only offers two single prices: either parking for less than an hour, or then parking for more than an hour. It is therefore recommended only if you wish to leave your car there all day. If you want to park for less than 3 hours, it's best going to National Mall Parking instead. However, if you intend on staying longer than 3 hours, you'll need to either come back or download a specific application. If you opt for one of these two parking lots, keep in mind that they're right next to the city's main monuments, so you'll need to arrive early to find a parking spot. It's also rather difficult to park on the street in this area. It's wiser to go a little further out to find a space, even if it means taking public transport to the center if you find it too far to walk. It's also important to make sure that your parking space remains available for the total duration of your stay: some roadside "parking lots" can become traffic lanes during rush hour... Look out for the signs!
The city of Washington DC offers many museums to visit, but beware: to get in, you need to find out beforehand what you're allowed to take in with you. In most of them, especially on the Mall, you'll go through a metal detector and your bag will be x-rayed, so take only the bare minimum with you to avoid any problems! Most museums at the Mall are free, so enjoy!
