I would like to take a quick break from our visit to present to your other points of interest that we couldn’t fit into our itinerary. Once you discovered all of the secrets of downtown, why don’t you take a walk along Saint Cyr docks up until the “jardin de la confluence”? The docks of the Vilaine, often somewhat underrated, will offer you a lovely landscaped walk.

Only a few steps east of downtown, be sure to wander in the Mail District. Since its redevelopment in 2015, this old promenade renamed “mail des Champs-Elysées” (translating to “Avenue of the Champs-Elysées”, in reference to the agitation, similar to Paris’ famous street) has become the new hip district of town, where we come to enjoy the numerous terraces and producers’ boutiques, as well as the beautiful flea market on the 2nd Sunday of the month. For a poetic nature break in the heart of Rennes, you should definitely wander in the alleys of “Jardin Rocambole”.

The greens of this bucolic garden are sprinkled with artworks. Giant games, such as Mikado (you know that pick-up stick game) or Connect 4, will delight everyone, only for the time of a soothing walk in this magical setting ! For even more greenery, you will find, on your way out of the city, the wooded park of Gayettes.

This gigantic 100- hectare space offer diverse activities. There you'll find bodies of water populated by ducks, turtles and water lilies, as well as sports fields, a mini golf course, an animal farm for children, a tree-climbing course, walking trails and large lawns where you can relax. There is something for everyone!

Attention, museum enthusiasts! Rennes Beaux-Arts museum is truly wonderful! Not too big, not too small, it showcases quality collections ranging from the Antiquity to modern days.

You can discover works from Rubens, Picasso, Chardin, or George de la Tour, as well as archeological relics that will delight amateurs. Do not hesitate to go there as, admission is free! Another museum not to be missed is the Champs Libres opposite Place Charles de Gaulle!

This innovative and ever-buoyant cultural space brings together the Musée de Bretagne, the Espace des Sciences and the Bibliothèque de la Métropole. With a wide variety of exhibitions, art of all kinds, digital and literary performances, it's sure to please! If you have time to explore the region, don't miss the forest of Brocéliande, which immediately propels you into an imaginary world of legends, fairies and mysterious landscapes.

During your stay in Rennes, don't hesitate to indulge in this enchanted interlude, and follow in the footsteps of Merlin the Enchanter and King Arthur on an oxygenated stroll through Brittany's most famous forest.Why not take advantage of your stay in Rennes to visit one of France’s wonders, the Mont Saint Michel. Located only 1h away from Rennes, you will be able to visit this mysterious abbey, which seems to float between sky and sea. Furthermore, it belongs to the firsts sites ever listed as part of UNESCO’s World Heritage.
