Advice

We'd like to digress for a moment to introduce you to all the other points of interest that we weren't able to include in our itinerary. In order to fully complete your visit of this city, you should most definitely stop by the archeological museum, located in Saint-Romain-en-Gal, on the other shore of the Rhone. There, you'll discover ancient and Gallo-Roman vestiges that will take you back in time, and show you what the city of Vienne was like, when it was still called Vienna.

Although visitors come to Vienne for its rich historical heritage, the many nearby vineyards are also appealing. Just a few kilometers from Vienne, visit the wine estates and taste the famous Côte-Rôtie, a red wine made from Syrah and sometimes Viognier grape varieties. Let’s not forget the tasty Condrieu, a white wine made entirely from Viognier grape.

If you're looking for nature walks, head for the Pilat Regional Natural Park, just a 20-minute drive away from the town center. It boasts of many hiking, biking and horse-riding trails. Several small villages are also worth visiting in this park, which offers a wide variety of landscapes !

And don't forget that Vienne is only 30 kilometers from Lyon. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
