The Albert I garden

This second public garden was opened to meet the demand of this new and wealthy clientele. Later, tourism turned towards sea bathing, and attendance at the gardens declined in favour of beaches and casinos. The garden keeps the charm of that era.

The garden holds a Greek-inspired open-air theatre, an old bandstand, an artificial grotto and the Arc 115.5, a black metal sculpture representing the Bay of Angels. Linking Place Massena to the Promenade des Anglais, it is a pleasant green stop in the heart of Nice.
