Bastion of Holland

This bastion was built after part of the rampart wall collapsed. It was named the Bastion of Holland because, quite simply, France happened to be at war with the Dutch at the time of the works. The governor of Brittany thanked the people of Saint-Malo for their loyal service in defending the country by gifting them a batch of cannons. Luckily, there’s no need to fear attack anymore, so you can simply enjoy your walk along the walls and take some spectacular photos from the bastion. The beach, the Bés, the open sea—what more could you ask for?
