A former grain hall

The museum is housed in a former grain hall built in 1823, on place Miremont, by a mayor of the same name in office from 1816 to 1830. At that time, the vast neighbouring archbishops' palace and other buildings had just been demolished to free up space in the city. The square and the hall came into being together. The building was converted in 1895 to house a museum and a library.

What to see

The museum's three sections bring together collections ranging from the Neolithic to the present day, remarkable paintings from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century and medieval Vienne ceramics. An ideal visit to trace more than two thousand years of the city's history.
