Bellevue Square

Welcome to Bellevue Square. As the name suggests, you can expect a pretty great view here, and it doesn't disappoint. In the manner of a belvedere overlooking the ocean, this square overlooks the main beach. With its fully pedestrianised streets lined by shops and restaurants, it's a very pleasant place to stroll around for a while. You'll have a great view of the stunning Belle Époque façade of the Bellevue hotel to your left. Now a top-class conference centre, it was Biarritz's first casino and saw many festive years. Charlie Chaplin, Josephine Baker and Charles Trenet all came here to have a great time. The geometric sculpture in the centre was designed by Spanish Basque artist Jorge Oteiza and is called ‘’The Basque Farm‘’. Figure out why! The square also offers a perfect spot to sit at one of the terraces overlooking the Grande Plage and enjoy some local specialties.
