The church of Sainte-Foy
The Agen audio-guided tour invites you to quiet contemplation before the church of Sainte-Foy. At the narrow crossing of several streets, its presence surprises, for history and urban planning have each tried, in their own way, to make it disappear.
The memory of Saint Faith
As its name indicates, the building is dedicated to Saint Faith. Born in Agen around the year 290, into a noble Gallo-Roman family, the young girl, instructed in the Christian faith by her nurse, preferred martyrdom to the denial of her faith. Her memory, deeply anchored in the city, crossed the centuries and was the object of great veneration. The church consecrated to her perpetuates this memory with gravity and respect.
What there is to see
Inserted into a dense urban fabric, the church of Sainte-Foy is among the first heritage images one glimpses from the station. Inside, in contemplation, the visitor discovers a building dedicated to the patron saint of a long tradition of faith. Its singular situation, in the hollow of the streets, adds to the moving character of this place of memory.
