Cité Internationale de Lyon

The paths on your left lead toward the Cité Internationale de Lyon, a contemporary district built in a truly unique setting, between the Rhône River and Tête d’Or Park. Constructed mainly in the 1990s, the Cité Internationale was designed by architect Renzo Piano together with landscape architect Michel Corajoud. The goal was to create a modern neighborhood that could interact with its natural surroundings. Its curved buildings follow the course of the Rhône, while their large rooftops echo the greenhouses of the neighboring park. Today, it brings together offices, hotels, housing, restaurants, a movie theater, a casino, a Convention Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. With its auditoriums capable of hosting major international events and its spaces dedicated to artistic creation, it represents another side of Lyon: a city open to the world, focused on exchange, culture, and innovation.
