Colbert Square

This small square bears the name of one of Louis XIV's most important ministers, Jean-Baptiste Colbert, who played a key role in the economic development of France in the 17th century. His statue, designed by Eugène Guillaume in 1860, stands in the centre of the square. Colbert square was opened in 1828 and laid out in English style 30 years later by Louis Sulpice Var. It faces Reims station, which opened 2 years earlier. In spring, it takes on beautiful colourful and flowery hues, making it even more attractive for a relaxing break at the heart of the city.
