Behind this slightly technical name stands a great hiking trail that runs along all of the Breton coasts over more than two thousand kilometres, connecting among others Saint-Nazaire to Pornichet, then well beyond to the north. Recently elected the favourite walking path of the French, this maritime balcony offers unexpected viewpoints, the gaze lost in the blue of the ocean and the nostrils bewitched by the resin of the maritime pines. Its name recalls the time when the customs officers walked it on the lookout for smugglers; today, the walker rather comes across the fisheries, those small cabins on stilts typical of the Atlantic coast, which pleasantly punctuate the walk. The Saint-Nazaire section, accessible and well laid out, can be walked in a few hours and offers a foretaste of the wild landscapes of the coastline.

The path unfolds a continuous panorama over the ocean, the coves and the maritime pines, punctuated by the fisheries on stilts. It is an invigorating walk, ideal for breathing the sea air and discovering the coastline on foot. On its Saint-Nazaire section, it connects the seafront to the neighbouring beaches in a peaceful and salty atmosphere.

The Customs Officers' path GR34 runs along the seafront of Saint-Nazaire and extends towards Pornichet and beyond. In free access on foot at all hours, it includes natural passages; good shoes are recommended.
