The Dewailly Clock, erected at the end of the nineteenth century, takes its name from a rich Amiens notable who bequeathed a sum to the town for its realisation. It is an elegant structure of Art Nouveau style, mixing stone, bronze and ironwork, topped with a clock and richly decorated. But its most famous element is the graceful bronze statue that crowns it: a young undressed woman, familiarly called by the Amiens people Marie-sans-Chemise, an allegory full of charm that has become an emblematic and affectionate figure of the town. Destroyed during the bombings of the Second World War, that ravaged Amiens, the clock was carefully rebuilt identically, so dear was it to the heart of the inhabitants. Today restored and highlighted, it is an appreciated landmark and a witness of the refinement of the Belle Époque.
