End of the World Promenade

You're standing on the end of the world promenade. It runs along the edge of the castle and is one of the most iconic sights in Angers. The Doutre district stretches out before you behind the Maine, the river that cuts through the centre of Angers. The Maine is just 11.5 km long and rises at the confluence of two rivers, the Mayenne and the Sarthe, to the north of Angers. It is actually one of the only rivers in France to have this particularity: it doesn't really have a source, but derives from two existing watercourses. Some geographers even believe that it is actually a continuation of the Mayenne, which simply changes its name from Angers onwards. It then flows into the Loire at Bouchemaine. Angers and Bouchemaine are the only two towns it crosses. Anyway, it makes the capital of Angers even more pleasant than it already is, and from this terrace, you can see it all!
