Here stands Ferme Lambert, one of the oldest buildings in Tête d’Or Park. Unlike many of the park’s other structures, this one already existed before the park was created in the 19th century. It is often described as the last remaining trace of the former Tête d’Or estate, once connected to the Lambert family. Originally scheduled for demolition during the development of the park, the farm was ultimately preserved, giving it genuine heritage value today. Over the years, it has served several purposes: an administrative building, a site connected to the history of the zoo, a former weather observation station, and the headquarters of the Société lyonnaise d’horticulture. Today, it is primarily associated with Lyon’s Botanical Garden, housing its offices, library, collections, and herbarium. Discreet yet significant, Ferme Lambert is a reminder that before it became a major urban park, Tête d’Or was also a rural estate.
