From Forge to Knowledge
Just a quick word about the beautifully renovated building you see in front of you. As its emblem suggests, this was once the forge workshops of the Saint-Étienne Arms Factory, and you can probably imagine the constant racket that used to echo here! Today, the atmosphere has changed, but not the ambition. Since 2021, it’s been home to the Knowledge Center for Innovation (Centre des Savoirs pour l’Innovation), a university research hub focused on science, materials, imaging, and modeling. Here, instead of forging metal, they forge ideas. Students, PhD candidates, and researchers work here every day in a spirit of openness and collaboration, a perfect example of continuity, bridging the production of yesterday with the innovation of tomorrow.
