Grande Street is Dieppe's main shopping thoroughfare and is entirely pedestrianised. Dating back to Gallic times, it was used to facilitate passage from one cliff to another. As you stroll along it, you'll come across many houses and mansions dating from the town's reconstruction after the terrible English raids of 1694. The Grande Street is not only a great place to stroll and shop, it's also popular with locals for its unmissable market where you can buy fresh local produce every Saturday morning. In 2020, more than a million French people voted it the "Most beautiful market in France". This was the ultimate prize, after coming second the previous year.
