The covered market of Rennes, a truly convivial experience. If you’re fond of good food, enter the “Criée” and follow the various produce stalls. There is something for everyone and it is a good dive into local cuisine. Of course, you will find an entire wing dedicated to fish and seafood, but also dairy and cheese shops, fruits and vegetables stands, bakeries, wine and spirit shops : everything is there to allow you to discover the beautiful products of briton land. It is the perfect occasion to finally have a taste of the town’s specialty, the renowned “galette saucisse”. It is an artisanal pork sausage, which is grilled, and then put in a buckwheat crepe. The building, built in 1926, is beautiful, and was labelled as 20th century heritage. The old fish market kept its name of the “Criée”, but it is now a center for modern art, offering free tours. If you are lucky enough to come here on the first Sunday of the month, entertainment is certainly at its peak, with the famous “marché à manger”, literally market to eat. This convivial event is eagerly awaited by the Rennais : more than 40 restaurant owners, producers, brewers, bakers, setup in just as many food trucks, gather and thrill the crowds with their passion for good food! It’s the best opportunity to taste traditional dishes, from everywhere!
