Tucked away at the very end of the charming Pistoles Square, you’ll find the “Vieille Charité”, the city’s former almshouse. It’s hard to miss; you see, it stands out as one of the city's main historic buildings! Today, it’s a buzzing cultural center in the heart of Marseille's oldest neighborhood. It houses two museums –one on Mediterranean archaeology, the other on African, Oceanic and Amerindian arts– as well as an Arthouse cinema and the International Poetry Center. Shows, exhibitions and short films are all on offer in this 17th-century building, which truly embodies the city's rich heritage.
