Le Havre Marina
The Le Havre marina
The Le Havre audio-guided tour reveals the huge marina, made up of the Joinville cove and the Regates cove, which can accommodate up to one thousand two hundred boats a stone's throw from the town centre and the beach. It is one of the most modern in Europe.
Five centuries of port history
The port of Le Havre recently celebrated its five hundred years. It was King Francis I who decided, in 1517, to build here a deep-water port, at the mouth of the Seine, to serve the trade and navy of the kingdom. The present marina, one of the few located in deep water, with innovative facilities, continues this long maritime tradition in the heart of the city.
What there is to see
The marina, with its hundreds of masts and its pontoons, offers a pleasant spectacle by the water, between the town centre, the beach and the Andre Malraux Museum. Nearby stands the Catene de Containers. It is a popular walking spot, which bears witness to the unbreakable link between Le Havre and the sea.
Practical information
The Le Havre marina can be seen freely, in the open air, at the entrance to the Seine bay, near the town centre and the beach. The walk along the quays is accessible at any time. The nautical services and shops of the port follow their own hours.
