Môle des Noires Lighthouse

The beach at the Môle des Noires, sheltered from the wind at the foot of the city, invites you to see Saint-Malo from farther away, right at the very end of the jetty out there. This breakwater, known as the Môle des Noires because of the color of the rocks it was built on, is 500 meters long. It feels like an extension of the ramparts and leads you all the way to its lighthouse of the same name. The lighthouse you see today is not the original one built in 1838. Destroyed in 1944 by the German army, a new turret was built and lit in 1959. In any case, it is from the tip of this jetty that you get the finest view of the fortified city.
